14 Best Long Island Wedding Venues, Nassau to Suffolk

Our Long Island office is in Hicksville, which puts every venue on this list within forty minutes of the team. We have played each of them as the wedding DJ and MC, most of them many times, so this guide covers what the brochures leave out: which ballrooms are built for a big dance floor, which estates need lighting to come alive, and where a beach ceremony means planning the sound around the wind. Gold Coast estates and mansions

Oheka Castle in Huntington is the Long Island wedding venue: a 1919 chateau with formal gardens, a grand staircase for the entrance and a ballroom that expects full production. We have provided entertainment here since 2008. Our advice is to plan the night in chapters, ceremony in the gardens, cocktails on the terrace, then the ballroom, and to light the exterior for the late photographs.

Hempstead House at Sands Point is the Gould-Guggenheim castle: a stone great hall with a vast fireplace and a lawn that runs to the Sound. The hall is acoustically live, so we design the sound for it rather than simply turning up. Tented receptions on the lawn are common and need their own power and lighting.

de Seversky Mansion in Old Westbury is an elegant, symmetrical estate on the NYIT campus with a ballroom and terrace. It suits classic, formal weddings and works well with a string quartet at the ceremony and a DJ-with-sax set for the reception.

The Mansion at Glen Cove is a 1910 estate that is also a hotel, with the Garden Ballroom and a tent option. Guests staying on site means the party can run late without anyone worrying about the drive home.

Bourne Mansion in Oakdale is a Gilded Age house on the South Shore with a marble hall and a ballroom that seats several hundred. It is grand in the traditional sense and rewards a properly built light show.

The Chateau at Coindre Hall in Huntington is a French-style chateau above the harbour, with a ballroom and a boathouse. The view from the terrace at sunset is the reason to book it; plan the cocktail hour around it.

Westbury Manor is a Victorian manor with English gardens and a conservatory-style ballroom. It is intimate compared with the castles and handles 150 to 250 guests comfortably.

Waterfront

The Crescent Beach Club in Bayville is the beach wedding: ceremony on the sand, reception in the ballroom over the water. Wind is the enemy of ceremony audio on a beach, so we use wireless lapel mics and speakers positioned for the wind direction on the day.

Harbor Club at Prime in Huntington sits on the harbour with a glass-walled reception room. Sunset ceremonies, then a dance floor with the boats behind it.

Water’s Edge in Centerport has the Summerwind Ballroom, the Pondview Room and a waterfront pergola for ceremonies. One of our featured real weddings, Bespoke Wedding, was here, with gold uplighting through the ballroom.

Grand ballrooms

Sand Castle in Franklin Square is built for big weddings: waterfall grounds, a glass atrium for cocktails and a Grand Ballroom with a large dance floor. It is one of the most production-friendly rooms on the island, and a natural fit for a DJ-plus-live hybrid set, cold sparklers and dancing on a cloud.

The Garden City Hotel has the Grand Ballroom and the Rose Room, a classic hotel wedding with rooms upstairs. Formal, reliable and easy for guests coming from the city by train.

The Lannin in Eisenhower Park has a garden, a glass room and a new ballroom. It is a modern space that takes lighting well and suits couples who want something less traditional than the estates.

Watermill Caterers in Smithtown is a landmark ballroom with a garden, a Suffolk County favourite for large family weddings, and one where our bilingual MCs are booked often.

Choosing between them

Guest count first. The estates are magnificent but many have ballrooms that top out around 200 to 250; the catering halls and Sand Castle handle 300 and up with ease.

Ceremony on site or not. Almost every venue here offers an on-site ceremony. Outdoor ceremonies need a separate sound set-up; ask your entertainment to include it rather than relying on the venue’s portable speaker.

Lighting and effects. Historic rooms are usually lit for dinner, not dancing. Uplighting and, where the venue allows it, cold sparklers or a dancing-on-a-cloud first dance are what turn a beautiful room into a memorable one.
